SUMMARY:
The project IC will help in three locations of historical importance in Bulgaria (Veliki Preslav, Targovishte and Petrich town) to improve access to culture:
- by restoring the infrastructure of historical sites and
- promoting new approaches to learning about the cultural heritage of Europe.
During the first 2 years of the project – volunteers will contribute to the restoration of infrastructure, and in the second and third year we will add as well with creation of educational and informational materials that promote the cultural heritage in the three locations in Bulgaria via digital tools – such as mobile applications for smart phones, platforms and forums where people search for information and plan their trips. The three locations are chosen very precisely. We will work closely with local communities, local authorities and cultural institutions stationed there. The Covid pandemic has affected not only tourism and travel. Small museums and their teams today feel totally isolated and
forgotten. Working on old-school methods, they are rather passively waiting for tourists and with small teams that lack innovators or visionaries for future development. The project gives the opportunity for those institutions in the province to get involved in a new type of work. Their teams will expand their network of contacts and will presenting the cultural wealth in their region to a new audience and in a new way, which will be additional value of the project.
