PROJECT INFO

Torcal Activo is a organization specifically focused on organizing, promoting and supporting sport activities for everybody. We work mostly with children and juveniles, but we create and support activities (strictly related to sport and physical games) for adults, people with physical disabilities, and anybody that wants to participate. Moreover, as an association we have all the responsibilities related to management, planning and coordination of the activities that we create, providing the safe environment and quality control for them as well. Some of the activities of the organization are listed below:

• Promotion of the concept of “Sport for everybody”, by organizing fun and diverse activities and games related to sport, with which people can spend their free time in a fun and healthy way.
• Artistic workshops including various activities (creating things from recycled materials, etc.) that promote environmental awareness and preservation.
• Cultural exchanges
• Excursions and hiking trips.
• Activities which promote the active tourism in the natural environment of our area.
• Collaboration with educational institutions and associations for the promotion of school sport.
• Collaboration with municipal and public entities for the development of sport activities (cultural and environmental) in the rural area.
• Creation and development of activities strictly focused on promoting the growth of the tourism sector in the area.
• Out-of- school activities.
• Promotion of the European youth programs to the young people in the community and participation in youth exchanges.

EVS volunteer’s tasks:

The tasks of the volunteer will vary a bit between the seasons but they will be more or less as follows:

February to May, from May to August.

MAIN TASKS:

• Promotion of the idea behind European Voluntary Service, Youth in action and European citizenship.
• Helping with the organization of sport activities during the “Summer Camp” and the “Swimming Campaign” that the association organizes every year.
• Help and support of different activities and games with the children in the school.
• Support and create specific physical activities for elderly people, some of which with physical disabilities.
• Promoting the activities of the association and the volunteer in the social media space by regularly updating our blog and facebook page.

SECONDARY TASKS

• Learning and helping with the creation of project and youth exchange within the Erasmus+ program.

What can the volunteers expect from the experience:

The volunteer can expect to experience and learn a lot about a foreign culture in an interesting way, because the life in the village is very different from the life in the city. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to participate in the organization of many sport activities, games and events and learn quite a bit about how that organization happens and how all of this activities affect the community of the village. At the end the volunteer will acquire a lot of cultural knowledge and skills that would be helpful for his/hers personal and professional development in the future. And last but not least, the volunteer will get a formal certificate in order to prove that.

PRACTICALITIES

Food: The volunteer will receive 180 euros for food each month, which will be sufficient for shopping and preparing food by him(her)self as well as for eating outside from time to time.

Accommodation: The accommodation is a rented house in the center of the village. The volunteer will be provided with all of the essential household appliances that he(she) might need. The electricity and water are covered by the hosting organization. Internet connection is not facilitated by the hosting organization.

Pocket money: The volunteer will receive 105 euro for pocket money each month to use as he(she) sees fit.

Local transport: As the volunteer will be living in a village and the work place is very close to his(her) house, the volunteer won´t need any kind of transport to get there.

Language support: Every volunteer is entitled to receive language support with an online platform, as stated in the Erasmus+ program.

Holidays: The volunteer will have the same holidays as the rest of the people from the association. Also the volunteer has the right to take 2 free days each month.

Training and support: The mentor will offer constant support and personal assistance to the volunteer.

Applicant organization/sending organization/hosting organization is responsible for the volunteer’s insurance, all the parties are obliged to get acquainted with the insurance rules.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Anyone interested may fill in the online application form and attach their CV and motivation letter (in english or spanish) before the 25th of August. We will select candidates for interviews and inform them no later than the 28th of August. The interviews will be held on skype the 1st and 2nd of September.
